‘Art has been my raison d’etre since I was a schoolboy. It’s truly a vocation,
and I’ve never been able to even consider the possibility of anything else.
Having studied and revered great European painters, I’ve never felt the need
to emulate any of them -
as Corot once said.
When I put a fresh canvas on the easel, I approach it with no formula, no system.
I work relentlessly at what I want to express until I can take it no further’.
